The European Economic Community (EEC) Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive is currently impacting the RF/microwave market. The directive dictates that all products sold in Europe as well as other countries will be free of some hazardous material. One of many exceptions to this is any product that is used within a military application.
Specific materials that are banned based upon the RoHS directive include:
- Lead (Pb)
- Mercury (Hg)
- Cadmium (Cd)
- Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+)
- Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB)
- Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE)
- Bis(2-Ethylhexyl) Phthalate (DEHP)
- Butyl Benzyl Phthalate (BBP)
- Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP)
- Diisobutyl Phthalate (DIBP)
Since K&L Microwave serves both the military and commercial markets with custom designed filters and filter related assemblies, the RoHS directive requires K&L’s customers to identify the need for RoHS compliance within their specification and/or order.
K&L meets RoHS required applications. Customers simply need to specify the requirement, and it will be fulfilled.
